YAMAMOTO'S PLAN
Isoroku Yamamoto, the commander in chief of Japan’s fleet, had a specific plan to win the Battle of Midway and take the island. His plan included the use of half of Japan’s naval carriers, and the biggest battleship in the world. On top of this, Yamamoto’s plan required perfect timing in order for the plan to be executed. Despite his intricate planning, Yamamoto’s plan had several issues that ultimately caused their downfall. The first was that he did not realize aircraft could do a better job at attacking than a naval ship. In addition to this, his main ship was not as fast as the others, so he was already set behind. The second issue with his plan was that the American’s were aware of what he was doing and were ready to attack. Yamamoto had planned to lure the American ships away from Midway, but the Americans found out, and they were prepared to go to battle.
